CERL Seminar for Rare Books Libraries in the London area

The aim of the Seminar was to raise interest for and use of the Hand Press Book Database (HPB) and CERL’s other services in rare books libraries in the London region, and to invite participation in CERL's activities.

CERL’s resources for rare-books librarians and scholars
  • the Hand Press Book Database (3 million books printed before c.1830), available only to staff, students, readers, etc. of members of the Consortium
  • the CERL Thesaurus (multi-lingual finding aid for places, printers, booksellers, authors, and owners from the hand-press period), freely available on the web
  • the CERL Portal (cross searching of manuscript catalogues and rare books catalogues), under development and freely available on the web
  • provenance studies: a new area of development for which the Consortium welcomes contributions.
