Promoting Europe's cultural heritage in manuscript and print

CERL seeks to share resources and expertise between research libraries with a view to improving access to, as well as exploitation and preservation of the European printed heritage in the hand-press period (up to c. 1830). The organisation was formed in 1992 on the initiative of research libraries in many European countries and legally came into being in June 1994. Welcome to our site.

Truncation

You may use right truncation for searches in the local database by adding a question mark to your search term (e.g. aristot?). Please note that this does not work for searches in the ISTC database.

Special Searches

In order to search special aspects of the database you may use the following search codes:

Troncamento

Historical note

We can seek the history of the National and University Library in the library of the Jesuit Gymnasium in 1606, and later in the Jesuit Academy, which marked the beginning of our university in 1669. With the foundation of the Grammar Academy, the higher adminstrative school in Zagreb, it was inaugurated as a public library with a bequest of books and manuscripts from Adam Baltazar Krcel…
