Content

  • A file of imprint place names was made available for the CERL Thesaurus by the Bavarian State Library Munich in 1999. An original version of the edited file is available as a print version (Druckorte des 16. bis 19. Jahrhunderts. - Wiesbaden : Reichert, 1991). This file was updated in 2004 and since then continually revised and enhanced.
  • Place names extracted from bibliographical data provided by the Royal Library of Sweden were added in 2000.
  • A list of imprint place names from the Cathedrals Libraries Catalogue was added to the CERL Thesaurus place names segment.
  • The National Library of Croatia contributed a file of printing place names that was included in the CERL Thesaurus in 2004.
  • Name forms found in the authority file for printers of the Censimento nazionale delle dizioni italiane del XVI secolo (EDIT16) offered by the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo Unico in Rome, were made retrievable in 2005.
  • A revision of the place name segment of the CERL Thesaurus took place in January 2006.

Indexing

1. Forms used as entry forms by one of the contributing libraries are indexed as they are, without any further additions etc. For example:

      1	budapest

2. Variant or fictional name forms are followed by an equals sign and the first (in alphabetical order) heading form. For example:

      1	zagrabia = agram

Please see also the general rules concerning the treatment of characters in indexing.
